Woody Russell is a critically acclaimed, award winning guitarist, singer and songwriter from Austin, Texas, who will be traveling to our area together with harmonica ace Jose Ruiz and talented keyboardist Bryce Powell.  With over twenty-five years as a professional musician to his credit, Russell is known for his deliverance of seasoned performances. Respected music industry veteran and President of BE Music and Entertainment, Michael Blanton, calls him "one of the best kept secrets in the world of live performance today." Blues Revue offers that, as a guitarist, Russell possesses the “fearlessness of Jeff Beck”.

Ten years ago, Woody Russell was one of the Top 5 New Talent Finalists of 2004 at the prestigious Newport Folk Festival; the only finalist to receive a coveted invitation to perform at Newport in 2005 alongside a lineup that included Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson and Emmylou Harris. The Newport Daily News regarded Russell as an "audience favorite."

Russell’s brand new release, Delicious Days (Sept. 2013) features 11 new songs infused with sophisticated arrangements and thoughtful production. Russell has always been a genre-blurring artist and Delicious Days is no exception. A defined trajectory toward pop is the prevailing tone on this album; perhaps more so than on any of his other releases. But again, he seamlessly integrates his brand of jazz and blues, rock and soul in to the mix. The end result is a lush, complex recording – a pop album with a jazz heart - created by a master craftsman and his superb band. Yet, it’s an album which, amid the musical intricacies, is brimming with very accessible songs.

Please note that Woody offers free CDs to all veteran and active-duty military who attend his concerts!

Freddy & Francine is an Americana/Soul duo featuring singer songwriters Lee Ferris and Bianca Caruso. Drawing from influences like Ray LaMontagne, Brandi Carlile, The Swell Season, Ryan Adams and The Rolling Stones, No Depression describes Freddy & Francine as “Americana Soul, complete with tight two-part harmonies, engaging songs that will shoot deep into your heart, and a musical chemistry that is second-to-none in the L.A. Americana scene.”

Between 2008 and 2010, Freddy & Francine became favorites on the Los Angeles live circuit, building a word-of-mouth following and drawing crowds to regular gigs at venues that include Hotel Café, Vermont Restaurant, McCabe’s and the Cinema Bar. A feature of their song “Brownstone Alley” as TOP TUNE on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic helped to bolster the group’s iTunes sales for their self titled EP and their first album, “The Briar Patch.”

A three year hiatus saw Lee Ferris touring the globe as Carl Perkins with Broadway’s “Million Dollar Quartet” while Bianca Caruso recorded and released her debut solo record “Bravado” on Randm Records, but with a loyal following hungry for their return, Freddy & Francine’s 2014 reunion found them right where they left off, selling out shows at venues in and around L.A. and touring extensively throughout the West Coast, the Southwest, the East Coast and the Midwest.

In just a short time, excitement for Freddy & Francine’s powerful and compelling stage show has lead them to a three week residency at L.A.’s prestigious Hotel Cafe, featured performance slots at the 2015 Sisters Folk Festival, an official showcase at the 2015 SWRFA and FAR-West Folk Alliance Conferences, and a concert with the Madison Square Park Conservancy’s Studio Series in New York City.
